Skateboard for beginners – 5 tips for the right setup

What do your height, weight, and shoe size have in common? It’s simple: they help determine the features your skateboard should have. Fundamentally, every skateboard should be tailored to the rider. But that’s not all. With these 5 tips, you will find the right skateboard for you:

Ensure a good stance

A wide board offers a secure stance and thus more stability. If you have large feet, the deck should be correspondingly wide.

What are your plans for the skateboard?

Do you want to practice stunts at the skatepark or just cruise around? Narrow decks are particularly agile and easy to flip. Wider decks offer a good stance. The wheels

Choose soft wheels to start with. They have better grip than hard wheels and thus support a stable stance on the board.

Bushings

With hard bushings, the skateboard reacts to the slightest pressure – even unwanted movement. For beginners, softer bushings are therefore better.

Safety first

Regardless of whether it's a girl's skateboard, an all-round model, or a cruiser – always wear protective gear, at least in the beginning. This includes a well-fitting helmet as well as wrist, knee, and elbow pads.
