Hoverboard & E-Board

Buy hoverboard | Self Balance E-Boards

How does a hoverboard work?

Even though hoverboards seem futuristic, the technology behind them is not rocket science. There are basically three main components that make up a self-balancing board : two motorized wheels, a powerful battery and a control board with an integrated tilt and pressure sensor. As soon as pressure and tilt are detected on both surfaces, the e-board's independent motors are powered. This means that you can move the hoverboard forwards or backwards and to the right and left by shifting your weight.

How do you ride a hoverboard?

When riding a hoverboard, you should always wear protective gear (helmet and joint protectors). If you don't have the right balance, you can quickly lose your footing on the e-board and sometimes suffer serious injuries. As we all know, all beginnings are difficult. If you're a beginner, we recommend that you hold on to a table or railing and stand on the hoverboard with both feet when you first try riding. As soon as you have a firm footing, you should stand upright and look straight ahead. Then try to gently shift your weight forwards or backwards. You will quickly notice that your hoverboard reacts very directly to your body movements. Expert tip: Just imagine the direction you want to go in - your body will then automatically shift its weight in that direction. This way, you will achieve success relatively quickly and have a lot of fun with your new hoverboard.

How do you steer a hoverboard?

To steer your hoverboard, you stand with both feet on the board and steer it by shifting your weight. The pressure sensors on both treads are basically the accelerator pedal for the left and right motors of your e-board. So if you lean forward more on the left than on the right, you steer your hoverboard to the right. Steering takes some getting used to at first. With a little practice, however, you will quickly internalize the steering and soon be able to drive safely.

Where can you ride a hoverboard?

According to road traffic law, you are NOT allowed to ride a hoverboard on the road in Switzerland. In other words, hoverboards are only intended for private property. Anyone who rides on public roads risks a hefty fine. Thanks to the soft wheels, hoverboards are also very easy to ride indoors. With a little practice, you can also ride your electric board in the hallway of your apartment or on the forecourt of your house.

How long do you have to charge a hoverboard?

How long the battery charging process takes depends largely on the quality of the hoverboard and varies from brand to brand. Generally, a hoverboard needs to be connected to the power cable for between 3 and 6 hours so that the board's battery is fully charged again. Good to know: There are hoverboards with an integrated battery and boards where the battery can be removed for charging. Models with a separate battery make charging at home easier.

How far can you travel on one battery charge?

The travel time also varies depending on the brand and model of the hoverboard you buy. In principle, it is possible to reach a maximum range of 20 kilometers with one battery charge. Of course, the weight of the rider and the gradient you ride have an influence on the range of your board. The heavier the rider and the steeper the gradient, the faster the battery loses power. When buying a hoverboard, we recommend that you choose a product with a good battery. A 300 watt lithium-ion battery with 36V is a good choice.

How fast does a hoverboard go?

In principle, speeds of up to 10 km/h are possible. This sounds like very little at first - but it feels pretty fast on a hoverboard. To reach the maximum speed of your hoverboard, you have to shift your weight forwards. This can quickly give you the feeling of "tipping forward". For this reason, the highest speed is rarely reached and in everyday life you realistically travel with a hoverboard at a speed of 5 to 8 km/h .

At what age can you ride a hoverboard?

There is no age limit for riding a hoverboard. However, the decisive factor is the weight. The pressure sensors only detect a body weight of around 25 to 30 kg . In other words, a hoverboard is suitable for people or children weighing 25 to 30 kg or more.

How much does a hoverboard cost?

Hoverboards are available in different price ranges from CHF 149 to CHF 199. In most cases, the price difference is due to the motor, battery power and special functions. However, there are high-quality models for as little as CHF 149 that can withstand everyday use.

Self-balancing scooters – which models are there?

There are countless different versions of hoverboards. The classic hoverboards are equipped with a 300 watt motor and a lithium-ion battery. There are also larger versions with spikes - which are designed for sporty off-road driving. However, we only recommend these e-board models for professionals. More expensive versions with integrated app control are also available. This allows you to use your smartphone to influence or query the speed, acceleration, steering sensitivity and battery status of your self-balancing scooter.

What should you look for when buying an e-board?

You should pay attention to the following when buying:

  • The hoverboard should have at least 300 watts.
  • Choose an item with a good quality lithium-ion, 36V battery
  • Wheel size 8.5 inches
  • You should weigh at least 25-30kg.
  • Buy protective gear if you don’t have any (helmet & pads)
  • Make sure that your dealer or manufacturer offers a good repair service. This is the only way to guarantee a long and sustainable life cycle for your product
