Safe Ride-Ons & Push Cars for the Little Ones

A ride-on is for most children their very first own vehicle. On four wheels, your child sits safely and pushes off the ground with their feet – completely without pedals or a chain. It is great fun and playfully promotes motor skills, balance, and self-confidence. At Funwheel, you will find ride-ons, push cars, and baby walkers from the brands Scoot and Ride, Globber, Slex, and Kinderfeets – shipped from our Swiss warehouse, hand-picked, and long-lasting.

What is a ride-on?

A ride-on – in Switzerland also affectionately called a "Rutscherli", elsewhere a push car or ride-on vehicle – is a low, tip-proof four-wheeled vehicle for toddlers. Thanks to the wide base and four wheels, it is particularly stable, allowing even the youngest to roll away safely. The child moves forward by pushing off with their feet and learns to control their weight in the process – the perfect precursor to tricycles and balance bikes.

Which ride-ons & push cars are available?

Depending on age and preference, a different model is suitable:

  • Push car (ride-on): The Scoot and Ride MyFirst is our bestseller – a 3-in-1 baby walker, ride-on, and caster board that can even be ridden indoors without scratching the floor. The Slex Rodeo Bull is a cool push car with a bull design.
  • 4-in-1 Learning Bike: The Globber Learning Bike accompanies children from 12 to 36 months and can be adjusted as they grow thanks to four steering modes.
  • Wooden four-wheeler: Sustainable and timelessly beautiful – the Kinderfeets Tiny Glider and the Cargo Bike, inspired by Dutch cargo bikes, with a large storage area for toys and treasures.

Baby walkers & push-along aids – learning to walk safely

Even before the first push car comes the first steps – and that is where a baby walker (also called a push-along aid) helps. Your child holds onto the handle, pushes the cart in front of them, and thus safely trains their balance and coordination. Ideal from approx. 12 months, as soon as your child pulls themselves up and makes their first attempts to stand.

  • Kinderfeets Pram & Cargo walkers: stable wooden aids with a low center of gravity – the Cargo model also offers storage space.
  • Globber Walk N'Roll 3in1: combines ride-on, walker, and rocker in one vehicle.

Note: A baby walker is something different from a balance bike – the walker is pushed, the balance bike is ridden.

From what age is a ride-on suitable?

A baby walker is suitable from the first attempts to stand (approx. 12 months). Ride-ons and push cars are generally suitable from approx. 1 year, as soon as your child can sit securely and push off with their feet. They are used until around 3 years – after that comes the transition to a tricycle or balance bike. The decisive factor is always your child's motor skills.

What you should look for when buying

  • Tip-resistance: a wide base and four wheels provide secure support for the little ones.
  • Floor-friendly wheels: soft wheels (e.g., on the Scoot and Ride MyFirst) do not scratch the floor – ideal for indoors.
  • Proper size: the child should be able to reach the floor comfortably with their feet and sit securely.
  • Adjustable & multifunctional: 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 models accompany your child for several years.
  • Quality: high-quality materials mean safety and longevity – often lasting across multiple children.

What does a ride-on cost?

At Funwheel, you can get ride-ons and push cars from approx. CHF 35. High-quality wooden models and baby walkers from Kinderfeets are around CHF 100–130. Quality pays off: A good vehicle often lasts for several children and can be repaired rather than replaced thanks to spare parts.

Safety while riding

Riding is a safe activity – but the following applies: Never let your child ride without supervision. Indoors, floor-friendly ride-ons are ideal; outdoors, flat surfaces like concrete or asphalt are suitable. As soon as things get faster, a well-fitting child helmet is a must, supplemented by knee and elbow pads for extra protection.
