Children's bike 3-4 year olds | Buy 12/14 inch children's bikes
The First Bike | Children's bikes from age 3
Switzerland is a cycling nation par excellence, and getting around on two wheels is an integral part of our daily lives in these latitudes. It is therefore not surprising that children between the ages of 3 and 4 are already out and about on a children's bike. When buying your child's first bike, you should consider the following:
- Are stabilizers included?
- Is there a chain guard?
- Is the handlebar padded?
- Do the front brake / coaster brake work?
- Is the size correct? (12 / 14 inch wheels / saddle / handlebar)
- Can the child sit on the saddle and touch the ground with their feet without any problems?
Safety on a child's bicycle
We can all remember how difficult those first few meters on a bike seemed before you finally got the hang of it. It takes a good sense of balance and speed to zoom through the neighborhood on a bike without stabilizers. During the learning phase, it is quite possible that your child will occasionally make contact with the asphalt or a bush. Therefore, observe the following safety rules:
- Supervise / support the child
- Wear a helmet
- Wear protective gear
- Use an area without traffic
What height are 12/14 inch children's bikes suitable for?
A rule of thumb is that 12-inch or 14-inch bikes are suitable for children with a height of 90 to 100 cm. From a height of 100 cm, 16-inch children's bikes are recommended.
