What is the Twint Pay Later function?

You can use this payment option as easily as you are used to with the TWINT app.

  • You shop online and choose TWINT as your payment method at checkout.
  • If an online shop offers the option “Pay later” with TWINT, you can choose whether you want to pay immediately or within 30 days.
  • You complete the purchase process just as quickly and easily as with instant payment via TWINT, but have more flexibility when shopping.
What requirements do I have to meet to be able to pay for my purchase later with Twint?
  • You are of legal age
  • You are resident in Switzerland
  • You will only see this payment option in the TWINT app if the respective shop also offers it.
  • Our partner Swissbilling SA also carries out further checks, such as a credit check.
How can I pay for a purchase later with TWINT?

With TWINT you have the option of paying for your purchase later at selected retailers. You have more flexibility by choosing whether you want to pay for your purchase immediately or in 30 days. The prerequisite for this is that you are of legal age and have your residence in Switzerland. If you use a TWINT app other than the TWINT Prepaid app, additional conditions may apply. This is how it works:

  • If you make a purchase from a retailer that allows you to pay for your purchases later with TWINT, you can choose in your TWINT app whether you want to pay for your purchase immediately or in 30 days, provided you meet the above requirements for this function.
  • If you are using the option for the first time, you only need to register for this service with Swissbilling in two steps. Simply follow the instructions on the screen.
  • Based on your registration data, Swissbilling checks whether the purchase can be completed successfully. If the result is positive, you will immediately see a confirmation in your TWINT app. If something goes wrong, you have the option of paying for your purchase immediately via TWINT and will then be informed of the reasons by Swissbilling via email.
  • By activating automated payments, the amount due for your purchases will be automatically debited from your TWINT account on the due date. This assumes that your TWINT account has sufficient funds at that time.
  • If you have not activated automated payments, you will receive a notification before the due date that the payment is due shortly. To do this, make sure that you have activated push notifications for the TWINT app on your smartphone. To initiate the payment, please follow these instructions .

Whether buyers incur costs for using this service in the TWINT app depends on whether the merchant covers these costs or not. If the merchant does not cover the costs, the buyer will incur fees depending on the purchase amount. The exact amount is displayed in the app as soon as the "Pay later" option is selected for a payment. You can find a detailed list of fees in the Swissbilling terms and conditions under "Fees". If you no longer want the option to pay later to be displayed, you can deactivate this service as described here .
