The longboard is long, stable, and ideal for distance and speed. A cruiser is shorter and more agile for the city, while a classic skateboard is designed for tricks in the skatepark.

What you should look for when buying

  • Deck & length (inches): from 32 to 38 inches – longer decks = more stability, shorter = more agility. For tall and heavy riders, choose longer; for children, shorter or a cruiser.
  • Trucks: wide trucks for a smooth ride, responsive ones for carving.
  • Wheels: large, soft wheels for comfort and grip.
  • Bearings: ABEC 7–9 for a smooth, fast roll.
  • Flex: soft flex for cruising, stiff for downhill control.
