What is a cruiser (cruiserboard)?

A cruiser is a compact skateboard for relaxed rolling through the city – smaller and more agile than a longboard, but more comfortable than a street skateboard. Many models are made of colorful plastic, others of wood – with soft wheels for good grip.

The cruiser is small and agile, ideal for the city and for taking with you. A longboard is longer and more stable for distance and speed, a classic skateboard is made for tricks in the skatepark.

What you should look for when buying

  • Deck size (inches): 22 inches is classic and agile – ideal for city use and beginners; 28 to 34 inches run more smoothly.
  • Wheels: soft, large wheels for comfort and grip on rough asphalt.
  • Trucks: well-tuned trucks ensure smooth carving.
  • Bearings: ABEC 7 or higher for easy rolling.
  • Material: plastic is colorful and light, wood is particularly robust.
  • Maximum weight: most cruisers are designed for up to approx. 100 kg – for heavier riders, a longboard is more suitable.
