Skateboard for beginners – 5 tips for the right setup

What do your height, weight and shoe size have in common? It's simple: they help determine what properties your skateboard should have. Every skateboard should be tailored to the rider. But that's not all. With these 5 tips, you can find the right skateboard for you:

Make sure you have a good stance

A wide footboard offers a secure footing and therefore more stability. If you have large feet, the deck should also be correspondingly wide.

What are you planning to do with the skateboard?

Do you want to practice stunts in the skate park or just cruise around? Narrow decks are particularly maneuverable and easy to flip. Wider decks offer a good footing. Not sure where you want to go yet? Then choose an all-round model like the Area Skateboards. You can find them as well as models from AOB or Slide Boards in our skateboard online shop.

The roles

Choose soft wheels to start with. They have a stronger grip than hard wheels and therefore help you stand stably on the board.

Steering rubbers

With hard steering rubbers, so-called bushings, the skateboard reacts to even the slightest pressure - even unintentional pressure. Soft bushings are therefore better for beginners.

safety first

Whether it's a girl's skateboard, an all-round model or a cruiser - always wear protective clothing, at least at the beginning. This includes a suitable helmet and wrist, knee and elbow pads.
